#OMRON CX PROGRAMMER ADDRESSING HOW TO#
I know how to set up the EthernetIP address on the CJ PLC for programming and HMI connection, but honestly I've never connected a CJ to any other device over Ethernet. Its very similar to Portal and Logix5000. If you were able to use a newer NJ or NX PLC you could set all of your EthernetIP devices up right in the Sysmac Studio software. That said, its a very old programming suite now, and it really suffers when it comes to setting up the communications stuff. I loved being able to do everything with keyboard shortcuts and never having to touch the mouse. Can I use the same ones you use for Allen Bradley PLCs?ĬX Programmer is a great environment for doing the actual ladder programming. I'm assuming since we're using Ethernet/IP, there are EDS files I have to install. The same goes for the Fanuc Robots that were controlling. We're using Ethernet/IP with turck FGEN distributed I/O, and I don't see where to even place the device in the hardware configuration, or assign the I/O to an area of memory. My biggest issue is configuring the network devices: Ladder Logic is Ladder Logic, no matter the PLC arcitecture, however this interface is very confusing.

I'm really struggling with CX-Programmer (it's reminicent of Mitsubishi PLC Development Environment). Is there a good guide, reference, or resource for omron that exists that is similar to the Siemens Forums, or Allen Bradley knowledgebase?

I don't have anybody on staff that knows omron at all, so, being the senior guy, I was tasked with designing the software for this particular job.

My company was awarded a job for a Tesla supplier who's standard uses Omron CJ Series PLCs and Pilz Safety PLCs. I am a Siemens Solution Partner and know Allen Bradley very well.
